Twelve metres of boom changes what’s possible.

Up close the 305 lifts 2.98 t. Out at its full 12.16 m radius it still handles 260 kg — which is how a spider crane parked in the driveway sets a beam in the back corner of the block.

The five-section boom telescopes from 3.7 m to 12.5 m in 26 seconds, and the hook can travel 16 m below ground level — so it lifts into excavations and basements as happily as onto roofs.

How high can the Maeda 305 lift, and how far below ground?
12.52 m of hook height above the ground it stands on, which clears a two-storey roof from the driveway, and 16.09 m below ground on the 4-fall block for basements, lift pits and excavations.
How wide is the Maeda 305 and what does it fit through?
1,280 mm wide with the tracks in and the boom stowed, 1,695 mm high and 4,195 mm long. It needs a double gate, a driveway or a laneway rather than a single doorway. If the gap is tighter than that, the 750 mm wide Maeda 285 is the machine.
What is the difference between the Maeda 305 and the Maeda 285?
Reach and weight. The 305 is 1,280 mm wide and 3,900 kg with 12.52 m of hook height and 12.16 m of radius, so it lifts over a house and handles heavier steel further out. The 285 is 750 mm wide and 1,990 kg with 8.7 m of hook height, so it goes through doorways and onto slabs the 305 cannot. Both lift close to three tonnes close in.
Can the Maeda 305 work indoors or on a suspended slab?
Yes, where the opening and the floor allow it. It tracks in at 36.3 kPa of ground pressure, which is lighter on the ground than a person walking, and sets its outriggers on timber mats. On upper floors the slab rating decides between the 305 and the lighter 285, so tell us which floor it will be working on.
Can I dry hire the Maeda 305?
No. Every hire includes our ticketed operator, because a spider crane is a slewing mobile crane that needs a C2 high-risk work licence to run. The operator is in the hourly rate and we add riggers and dogmen when the lift needs them, so you do not need your own licence or crew.
What does MC305C-3 mean?
It is Maeda naming: MC is the mini crane range, 305 is the model series, C is the crawler-track base, and the -3 is the current generation of the model. Ours is the standard diesel MC305C-3 with the 4-fall hook block.
How much does it cost to hire the Maeda 305 in Sydney?
$205 per hour plus GST with the operator included, with a six-hour minimum on site, so a typical day is $1,230 plus travel and GST. Travel to and from your site is quoted up front from our Rydalmere or The Entrance base instead of a float fee, and time past the minimum is charged in 15-minute increments.
