Steel Beam Lifting

Steel beam lifting · Sydney + Central Coast

Steel beam lifting — beams in, walls open, job moving.

Parramatta Cranes provides safe, experienced steel beam lifting and structural steel installation across Sydney — including the tight access sites where most crane companies say no. Renovation lintels through a front window, 12-metre beams walked through the house, commercial steel onto upper floors: we plan the lift, supply the crane and crew, and hold the beam while your builder fixes it.

  • Beams to 2.98 t
  • Access from 750 mm
  • Riggers + dogmen included

The steel jobs we’re built for

Renovation + knock-through beams

Lintels and structural beams for wall removals, garage conversions and extensions — lifted over the house, through a window opening, or straight through the front door.

Tight + through-house lifts

When powerlines or access rule out lifting over the top, the beam travels through the building on our tracked carrier, and the crane takes over at the other end. We’ve walked 12 m beams through houses this way.

Commercial + multi-level

Structural steel for mezzanines, fit-outs and multi-level builds — including lifts on suspended slabs and steel delivered to upper floors of high-rise sites.

How a beam lift runs

Confirm the steel

Send the shop drawings or beam schedule — lengths, weights and the drop zone. We check every beam against the crane’s load chart at your actual radius.

Plan the access

Setup position, boom path, powerlines and ground checked from photos or a free site visit — see how to prepare your site.

The lift

Ticketed operator, riggers and dogmen sling, fly and steer each beam in — level, controlled, no drama.

Land + hold

The crane holds each beam in position while your crew bolts or welds it off — then straight onto the next one.

The numbers that matter

2.98 tMax beam weight
12 mLongest beam walked through a house
750 mmNarrowest crane access
12.5 mMax lift height

Beam capacity depends on reach — the closer the crane sets up, the heavier the beam it can place. Check the real working-range charts on the Maeda 285 and Maeda 305 pages, or just send us the beam schedule and we’ll confirm in one call.

Why builders book us for steel

  • Specialists in tight access lifting — restricted sites are our everyday work, not the exception
  • Experienced with structural steel installation — residential, commercial and multi-level
  • Reliable and on time — your steel crew and fabricator aren’t left standing around
  • Modern crane and lifting equipment — maintained, logged and insured to WHS standards
  • Planning included — poor planning, wrong equipment and access issues are what blow out steel installs; we work with builders to get every lift right from the start

Steel beam lifting questions

How heavy a steel beam can you lift?
Up to 2.98 tonnes with the Maeda 305 at close radius — capacity reduces as the reach gets longer, which is why we check every beam against the load chart at your actual setup distance before quoting. Send the beam schedule and we’ll confirm machine and price in one call.
Can you get a beam to the back of the house?
Almost always — either over the roofline with the 305’s 12.5 m of hook height, or through the building: the tracked carrier walks the beam in at 780 mm wide and the crane lifts it into position at the other end. Powerlines out front don’t stop the job.
Do you work in with our builder and fabricator?
Yes — that’s the normal flow. We take the shop drawings or beam schedule from your fabricator, coordinate delivery timing with your builder, and hold each beam in place while the crew fixes it off. One less trade for you to conduct.
What does steel beam lifting cost?
Crane hire runs from $195 per hour plus GST with the operator included and a 6-hour site minimum; most single-beam residential lifts fit comfortably inside a minimum booking. Access and beam count drive the price — our pricing guide explains how we quote.
