Tracked Carrier Hire Sydney

Parramatta Cranes hires the TC1 tracked carrier with an operator across Sydney and the Central Coast — a 780 mm-wide machine that carries 1.2 tonnes through standard doorways, up stairs and across slopes and rough ground, and up to 2.2 tonnes with a dolly on flat surfaces. It’s the machine for moving heavy materials where forklifts and trolleys can’t operate: inside homes, along side access paths, through buildings and across unfinished sites. Full machine specs are on the TC1 fleet page.

What Is a Tracked Carrier?

A tracked carrier is a compact, remote-manoeuvred transport machine that carries heavy loads on rubber tracks instead of wheels. The tracks spread the load’s weight, grip slopes and rough ground, and let the machine travel where forklifts, trolleys and pallet jacks can’t — through doorways, over soft or uneven surfaces, and up stairs. Our TC1 pairs that mobility with a 360° rotating platform, so long or awkward loads can be steered through corners and tight passages without re-handling. It carries 1.2 tonnes anywhere it can travel; for heavier loads up to 2.2 tonnes we add a dolly, which works on flat surfaces only — we’ll confirm which setup suits your site when you enquire. See the TC1 fleet page for full specifications.

Through doorwaysAt 780 mm wide, the TC1 passes standard door openings and internal corridors.
Up stairsClimbs staircases with heavy loads that would take a crew hours to carry.
Down side accessTravels narrow paths beside houses where no vehicle fits.
Across rough groundRubber tracks handle slopes, mud and unfinished sites.
Inside buildingsNon-marking tracks, with additional floor protection available when needed.

Why hire one

Tracked Carrier vs Forklift vs Manual Handling

Most material-movement jobs in Sydney default to a forklift or a big labour crew. Here’s how the TC1 compares on the sites we’re called to:

Reducing hazardous manual handling is a duty under Australian WHS law — see SafeWork NSW guidance on hazardous manual tasks.

Common loads

What Our Tracked Carrier Moves

  • Glass and glazing units — panels carried to the lift zone, then flown with our glass lifter.
  • Steel beams and lintels — delivered through the house to where our spider crane takes over.
  • Air conditioning and mechanical plant — units moved through corridors and plant rooms.
  • Spas, stone and landscaping materials — down side access and across unfinished yards.
  • Appliances, safes and machinery — anything too heavy or awkward for a crew to carry safely.

On combined jobs, the tracked carrier and crane work as a relay: the carrier brings the load to the crane, the crane lifts it into place. One booking, one crew, no double handling. See our tight access crane hire service for the full picture.

Questions we’re asked

Tracked Carrier Hire FAQs

How much can the tracked carrier carry?

Our TC1 tracked carrier carries 1.2 tonnes as standard across all the terrain it can travel — stairs, slopes and rough ground included. For heavier loads, a dolly upgrades the capacity to 2.2 tonnes, but the dolly setup works on flat surfaces only. Tell us the load weight and the route when you enquire and we’ll confirm the right configuration.

Will it fit through a standard doorway?

Yes. The TC1 is 780 mm wide, so it passes through standard door openings, internal corridors and narrow side access paths beside houses.

Can a tracked carrier climb stairs?

Yes. The TC1’s rubber tracks let it climb staircases and steep gradients while carrying its load — one of the main reasons builders hire it instead of a manual crew.

Will it damage my floors?

No. The TC1 runs on non-marking rubber tracks, and we lay additional floor protection when working on finished or delicate surfaces such as tiles and timber.

Does tracked carrier hire include an operator?

Yes. We supply the TC1 as a wet hire with a qualified operator, and on combined jobs the same crew runs the crane and the carrier. Read about wet hire vs dry hire if you’re weighing up the options.

Can it work together with a crane?

Yes — that’s our specialty. The tracked carrier transports the load through the building or down the side access to the lift zone, where our Maeda spider crane or glass lifter takes over. One booking covers the whole sequence.
